Skanska to Build New Hydroelectric Power Plant in Bremanger, Norway

Skanska has signed a contract with Sogn og Fjordane Energi (SFE) for the construction of a new hydroelectric power plant in Bremanger municipality, Norway. The project is valued at NOK 434 million, approximately SEK 430 million, and will be included in Skanska’s Nordic order bookings for the fourth quarter of 2024.

The new Øksenelvane power plant will be located close to the existing facility, which has been operational for over 70 years and requires extensive rehabilitation. The scope of work includes the construction of a new intake, water tunnels, and an underground power station, covering all construction-related work for the new station.

Once completed, the new Øksenelvane plant will produce 171 GWh of electricity annually, enough to supply power to around 10,000 households. Construction will begin in April 2025, with the project slated for completion in March 2028. This major project marks another step forward in Skanska’s work within the renewable energy sector.
