ACCIONA to Refurbish Cargo Terminal at Kraków Airport, Expanding Passenger Capacity

Kraków, Poland — September 2025ACCIONA, through its Polish subsidiary Mostostal Warszawa, has been awarded the contract to refurbish the old cargo terminal building at John Paul II International Airport in Kraków.

The project will transform the former cargo terminal into a new pre-boarding area with six additional gates, enhancing the airport’s capacity to handle increasing passenger traffic. Works will include:

  • Partial demolition of the existing structure
  • Complete interior redesign to accommodate temporary boarding lounges for non-Schengen passengers
  • Construction of a connecting walkway on the first floor linking the redeveloped building with the main passenger terminal
  • Installation of two new escalators to connect upper floors with the ground level
  • Refurbishment of the esplanade and surrounding areas to ensure safe and comfortable passenger services

Despite the scale of the works, Kraków Airport will remain fully operational during construction. Passenger safety and continuity of airport services will be ensured throughout the refurbishment. Completion is scheduled for the second quarter of 2026.

This project builds on ACCIONA’s long-standing presence at Kraków Airport. Earlier in 2025, the company successfully delivered a new cargo terminal, and in June, it signed a contract to construct a central waste collection facility within the airport grounds.

With this latest project, ACCIONA continues to demonstrate its commitment to sustainable infrastructure and modern transport facilities in Poland’s aviation sector.
