Arup ACEI Awards 2026: A Night of Recognition

Dublin, April 2026 — Arup has been honored with four major accolades at the ACEI Engineering Excellence Awards 2026, including the prestigious Project of the Year 2026.

The recognition highlights Arup’s leadership in engineering innovation and sustainable design across Ireland.

Multiple Awards Across Key Categories

Arup secured three category wins along with the top overall award. The winning projects include:

  • Structural (Medium): Beamish and Crawford Bridges
  • Innovation (Small/Medium): Dublin Tunnel Tolling System Replacement
  • Mechanical and Electrical (Large): O’Connor Centre for Learning

In addition, the O’Connor Centre for Learning also received the Project of the Year 2026 title.

Beamish and Crawford Bridges Recognized for Sustainable Design

The Beamish and Crawford Bridges project, delivered for Cork City Council, earned recognition for its adaptive and sustainable design.

The project includes two pedestrian and cycle bridges in Cork. These structures improve connectivity while respecting the city’s historic setting.

Moreover, the design integrates advanced flood protection measures. As a result, it enhances both resilience and urban livability.

Dublin Tunnel Upgrade Highlights Innovation

The Dublin Tunnel Tolling System Replacement project won in the innovation category.

Arup collaborated with Egis Roads & Tunnel Operation Ireland and Indra Sistemas to deliver a hybrid tolling system.

Importantly, the upgrade allowed the tunnel to remain fully operational. At the same time, it introduced critical safety and efficiency improvements.

UCD Learning Centre Earns Top Honors

The O’Connor Centre for Learning received two awards, including Project of the Year.

Located at University College Dublin, the 11,580-square-meter facility supports modern, digital-first education.

The building features flexible and sustainable spaces designed for collaborative learning. Therefore, it sets a benchmark for future academic infrastructure.

Industry Recognition and Collaboration

According to Oonagh Reid, the awards reflect strong collaboration among project partners.

She emphasized the importance of teamwork in delivering adaptable and future-ready environments.

Outlook

The Arup ACEI Awards 2026 success reinforces the firm’s position in engineering excellence. As infrastructure demands evolve, projects focused on sustainability and innovation are expected to gain even greater importance.
