Barton Malow Divests from FlyPaper Technologies, Paving Way for Independent Growth

Barton Malow has announced the completion of its divestment from FlyPaper Technologies, marking a new chapter for both companies. This mutually agreed separation allows FlyPaper to establish itself as an independent entity dedicated to advancing construction software solutions.

As part of the agreement:

  • Daily and PlanScan will remain Barton Malow-owned and utilized exclusively within the enterprise.
  • Sherlock and the rest of the FlyPaper platform will now be independently available to construction industry users.

This move enables Barton Malow to reallocate resources toward new innovations while supporting FlyPaper’s continued growth in delivering productivity-enhancing tools for the construction industry.

The Origins of FlyPaper Technologies

Founded by Nick Fredricks, a former BIM Coordinator at Barton Malow, FlyPaper Technologies emerged from the need for improved coordination solutions during the $500 million University of Notre Dame Campus Crossroads project.

Fredricks developed Sherlock, a tool that streamlined productivity and significantly benefited the coordination team. Recognizing its potential, he partnered with Barton Malow to launch Sherlock and subsequently FlyPaper Technologies to share these solutions industry-wide.

Since its inception, FlyPaper has been instrumental in saving thousands of hours for construction coordinators globally. Now independent, the company aims to continue driving innovation and growth in the construction technology space.

Barton Malow’s Legacy of Innovation

For over 100 years, Barton Malow has been a leader in transforming construction practices. Known for pioneering modern delivery methods and strategic investments in technology, Barton Malow remains committed to advancing industry standards through innovation, accelerator programs, and product development.

“Nick’s success with FlyPaper exemplifies the type of innovation we need in the construction industry,” said Lindsey Rem, Barton Malow Senior Vice President of Business Transformation. “We’re proud to have been part of this journey and hope to inspire similar stories of innovation within Barton Malow.”
