Building the Future of Medicine: Jacobs Oversees Houston Methodist’s Cypress Hospital Project

Cypress, Texas – A major milestone in community-centered healthcare has arrived with the opening of the new Houston Methodist Cypress Hospital, a $685 million, state-of-the-art medical campus serving one of Texas’ fastest-growing regions. Global solutions provider Jacobs played a pivotal role in managing the hospital’s design and construction, working in close partnership with the Houston Methodist Design and Construction Department to deliver the project ahead of schedule.

Advanced Medicine for a Growing Community

The Cypress facility is a 570,000-square-foot seven-story hospital anchored by two six-story 160,000-square-foot medical office buildings and a fully renovated central utility plant. Strategically located to serve a booming population, the hospital brings advanced medical services and cutting-edge healthcare technology to the region.

Equipped with full 5G connectivity, the hospital integrates smart, patient-controlled rooms—enabling voice-command access to lighting, climate, and entertainment. It also houses a da Vinci 5 robotic surgical system, facilitating minimally invasive procedures that improve outcomes and reduce recovery times.

Full-Spectrum Care from Day One

Opening earlier this year, the hospital launched with:

  • 100 licensed beds
  • 9 operating rooms
  • 9 imaging modalities
  • Emergency department
  • Critical care unit
  • Birthing center

This comprehensive approach ensures a wide range of care services are immediately available to the Cypress community.

A Collaborative, Future-Focused Delivery

“At Jacobs, we understand the importance of delivering high-quality healthcare facilities that meet the evolving needs of communities,” said David Syphard, Vice President and Global Principal for Healthcare Construction at Jacobs. “Our collaborative approach and dedication to excellence have resulted in a hospital that not only provides top-tier medical services but also fosters a positive impact on the Cypress community.”

Jacobs’ project and construction management (PM/CM) services ensured seamless coordination among stakeholders, delivering a facility that is as resilient and sustainable as it is technologically advanced.
