Chinese Abatement Company to Join Atlas Copco Group

Nacka, Sweden –In a strategic move aimed at strengthening its position in the global vacuum and abatement technology market, Atlas Copco Group has announced its acquisition of New Star Technology (Suzhou) Co. Ltd., a specialized Chinese company known for its gas abatement equipment and absorber material production.

New Star Technology, which operates primarily in the semiconductor sector, specializes in producing gas abatement systems using absorber and catalyst technologies, along with the manufacturing and sale of replacement absorber materials. This acquisition represents a significant step for Atlas Copco in expanding its local footprint and manufacturing capabilities in China, especially in a high-growth, high-tech sector.

“We are happy to welcome New Star Technology to Atlas Copco Group. With this acquisition, we further enhance our local presence and product offerings in the field of abatement equipment. We also improve our capability to produce our own absorber materials locally in China,” said Koen Lauwers, Business Area President of Vacuum Technique at Atlas Copco.

Though the purchase price has not been disclosed, New Star Technology reported revenue of approximately CNY 50 million (73 million SEK) in 2024. The acquisition is expected to close in the third quarter of 2025, with 38 employees joining Atlas Copco Group as part of the transition. Post-acquisition, the company will be integrated into the Semiconductor division within Atlas Copco’s Vacuum Technique Business Area.

This acquisition not only strengthens Atlas Copco’s position in the semiconductor support market but also supports its strategy of localizing production and expanding its product offerings in Asia’s largest manufacturing economy.
