Câble C1 connects four municipalities with HQE-certified stations across 4.5 kilometers
Paris | February 24, 2026-Chryso has played a key technical role in the delivery of Câble C1, the first urban cable car system in the Île-de-France region.
Launched on December 13, 2025, Câble C1 links four municipalities in Val-de-Marne over a 4.5-kilometer route, introducing a new low-carbon mobility solution designed to ease congestion and improve accessibility in the greater Paris area.
The project includes five fully accessible stations, all certified under France’s High Environmental Quality (HQE) standards, integrating sustainable design principles from the outset.
Engineering Concrete for Complex Architecture
The architectural concept of the stations presented significant structural challenges. Their complex geometries required concrete capable of:
- High fluidity for intricate formwork
- Extended workability under varying site constraints
- Long-term mechanical strength and durability
To meet these demands, approximately 2,500 cubic meters of superplasticizers from the Chryso® Optima range were incorporated into the concrete mix designs. The admixtures enhanced flowability and uniformity while preserving structural performance after curing.
This formulation ensured consistent placement quality, even in difficult-to-access areas, without compromising strength or lifespan.
Balancing Durability with Esthetics
Given the visibility of the cable car infrastructure within the urban landscape, esthetic performance was equally critical.
The use of Pieri® Color PM 1000 Galet pigment delivered a stable, uniform finish across station façades. The pigment offers strong UV resistance, helping prevent discoloration and weather-related degradation over time. As a result, the concrete surfaces maintain their original appearance despite prolonged environmental exposure.
Technical Collaboration on Site
Beyond supplying materials, Chryso provided ongoing technical assistance throughout construction. Its teams worked closely with contractors to refine concrete formulations in response to real-time site conditions and evolving architectural specifications.
This collaborative approach ensured that both structural integrity and design ambitions were achieved within sustainability parameters.
A Sustainable Mobility Milestone
Câble C1 represents a strategic investment in multimodal transport infrastructure within the Paris region. By offering an alternative to road-based transit, the project contributes to reduced emissions, improved connectivity and enhanced quality of life for residents.
Through advanced admixture technologies and material optimization, Chryso’s contribution supported both the functional and visual performance of a landmark urban mobility initiative.
