DB Building Contracts Chooses Construct for Sage and EValuate Software to Enhance Efficiency and Profitability

Founded in 1999, DB Building Contracts has grown into one of Northern Ireland’s largest private home builders, specialising in both new builds and renovations. As the company expanded, it identified limitations in its existing systems, which included manual job management and spreadsheets alongside Sage 50 for accounting. These methods were no longer efficient or scalable.

Key data was fragmented across systems, making it difficult to track expenses, manage budgets, or access vital information like subcontractor insurance details. With no in-built reminders or alerts, the risk of missing deadlines or overpayments increased. To address these inefficiencies and improve control, DB Building Contracts sought a more integrated and automated solution.

To support their continued growth, the company chose Construct for Sage 50, a construction-specific accounting solution, and EValuate estimating software. These tools are designed to centralise project cost data, reduce duplication, and minimise operational risk.

Streamlined data entry
Construct for Sage will allow DB Building Contracts to streamline admin processes by capturing information once and sharing it across the system. The Approvals Module enhances subcontractor management by tracking applications and payments and alerting users to any duplicate supplier invoices.

Managing critical information
Construct enables the recording of key details such as subcontractor insurance expiry dates and generates alerts and reports when action is needed. This helps the business stay ahead of important deadlines and compliance requirements.

Real-time visibility of costs
The dedicated accounting software allows for more effective budget monitoring and control, offering real-time visibility of project performance. This enables quicker decision-making and better financial oversight.

Integrated estimating and accounting
EValuate, integrated with Construct, connects estimating, commercial, and accounting teams. It streamlines bill production, manages subcontractor enquiries, and gives a clear view of budget versus actual costs. The software also generates a Bill of Quantities (BoQ), enabling seamless tracking of project costs and identification of risks to profit margins.

By investing in these purpose-built construction systems, DB Building Contracts is strengthening its operations, reducing manual tasks, and positioning the business for long-term success.
