Eiffage Construction delivers a new exemplary and eco-responsible aquatic center in Anglet

The new El Hogar aquatic center has opened its doors in the heart of Anglet (64). Designed and built by Eiffage Construction, this facility combines user comfort, contemporary architecture, innovation, and environmental excellence after just over a year of work

The operation represented a technical challenge: building a new facility while keeping the old pool in service to ensure the continuity of public service, a challenge that required meticulous organization from our teams.

Conceived as a living space, the center offers users a 25-meter sports pool with 6 lanes, a 180 m² learning pool, and a 40 m² paddling pool. Outside, a 25-meter Nordic pool and a solarium complete the offer to meet the needs of all types of swimmers.

Priority was given to efficiency: energy consumption is limited to about 3,000 kWh per m² of pool, a reduction of about 30% compared to the old pool. Nearly 70% of the needs are covered by renewable energies thanks to a wood pellet boiler, an air/water heat pump, and self-consumption photovoltaic panels. Water consumption in the new pool has been reduced by about 25%. Water use is also optimized with rainwater recovery systems.

The project also integrated a responsible construction approach with the use of bio-based materials, wooden cladding, and even an innovative concrete incorporating recycled oyster shells, developed in partnership with ISA BTP and supported by the seedinnov innovation fund.

The El Hogar Aquatic Center was officially inaugurated on Friday, August 29, 2025, in the presence of swimmer Camille Lacourt, and the first swims began on Monday, September 1.

Congratulations to all the teams involved for the success of this emblematic and environmentally friendly project!
