Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania — March 2026Turner Construction Company has moved into the vertical construction phase of the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center expansion, marking a major milestone in the $900 million healthcare project.

The Geisinger Wyoming Valley expansion project is set to significantly enhance healthcare capacity and infrastructure in northeastern Pennsylvania.


Major Patient Tower Takes Shape

The development includes an 11-story, 600,000-square-foot patient tower, which is now rising following extensive planning and foundation work.

Once completed, the new facility will:

  • Increase hospital capacity from 356 to 500 beds
  • Expand operating rooms from 12 to 18
  • Deliver a significantly larger emergency department
  • Transition toward all private patient rooms

The expansion is designed to bring advanced medical capabilities comparable to major metropolitan healthcare centers.


Strengthening Regional Healthcare Access

Located in Wilkes-Barre, the project aims to address growing demand for healthcare services across northeastern Pennsylvania.

The upgraded infrastructure will improve:
