Heidelberg Materials’ 2050 Net-Zero Targets Approved by SBTi

The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has validated Heidelberg Materials’ long-term Net Zero commitment, confirming its alignment with the 1.5°C climate trajectory. This approval reinforces the company’s leadership in sustainable construction.

Key Climate Goals

By 2050:

  • 95 percent reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions per tonne of cementitious material.
  • 90 percent reduction in absolute Scope 3 emissions.

By 2030: (previously validated in 2023)

  • 26.7 percent reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions per tonne.
  • 25 percent reduction in Scope 3 emissions from purchased goods and services.

A Pioneer in Sustainable Building

Heidelberg Materials was the first company in the cement sector to gain SBTi approval in 2019. It is committed to carbon neutrality and a circular economy, with operations in more than 50 countries, 51,000 employees, and nearly 3,000 locations.

With this validation, Heidelberg Materials continues to set the standard for climate-conscious construction, leading the way toward a net-zero future.
