Jacobs Continues Work on Alaska’s Port Upgrade Project

Jacobs (NYSE: J) has received a five-year contract extension to continue serving as Program Management Consultant for the Don Young Port of Alaska Modernization Program — a phased, multi-billion-dollar initiative to replace the port’s aging waterfront infrastructure with modern, resilient facilities.

As Alaska’s primary inbound cargo facility, the Port of Alaska supplies essential goods to 90% of the state’s population, supports critical national security missions, and provides essential disaster recovery capabilities. Under the extended agreement, Jacobs will continue managing planning, design, procurement, and construction services to enhance the port’s long-term resilience and operational reliability.

This extension reflects the strong collaboration between Jacobs, the Municipality of Anchorage, and the Don Young Port of Alaska over the past decade,” said Patrick King, Jacobs’ Global Transportation Market Director. “Through dedicated program management in one of the world’s most challenging marine environments — marked by extreme tides, seismic activity, and environmental sensitivity — we are advancing Alaska’s most vital maritime infrastructure for generations to come.”

Jacobs has been a strategic partner on the Port of Alaska Modernization Program since its launch in 2014. The next project phases will replace one of the port’s two primary cargo berths with a modern, resilient structure designed to endure seismic events and maintain operations during severe weather conditions.

The Port of Alaska is a lifeline for our state, and its modernization is essential to ensuring long-term resilience,” said Mike Abbott, Port Director for the Municipality of Anchorage. “Jacobs’ expertise and collaborative spirit have been critical to the success of this program and our mission to safeguard Alaska’s supply chain.”

Jacobs continues to deliver integrated program and infrastructure management services worldwide, leveraging its experience in transportation, energy, water, and environmental resilience to build a more connected and sustainable future.
