Jacobs (NYSE: J) has been awarded a nine-year contract by JXN Water to operate and maintain the City of Jackson, Mississippi’s wastewater infrastructure, marking a major expansion of the company’s role in strengthening the city’s essential water systems.
Under the agreement, Jacobs will manage three wastewater treatment plants and 99 pump stations, building on its successful partnership supporting Jackson’s water operations since 2022. The expanded scope focuses on improving system reliability, modernizing aging assets, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
“The agreement reflects our dedication to stabilizing and upgrading Jackson’s water infrastructure,” said Greg Fischer, Executive Vice President at Jacobs. “With personnel already embedded in operations, we’re positioned to deliver cost-effective, sustainable solutions that improve service quality and community resilience.”
Jacobs’ immediate priorities include completing a condition assessment and strategic improvement plan, alongside a workforce development initiative to train and certify local operators, addressing labor shortages while creating long-term career pathways for residents.
