Jacobs Selected for Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail Project in Australia

Transformational rail upgrade to support population growth and the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Jacobs (NYSE: J), in joint venture with Arcadis (AJJV), has been selected by Queensland’s Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) to deliver the Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail Project — a strategic infrastructure initiative aimed at transforming South East Queensland’s rail network.

The project will expand capacity and improve the passenger experience between Brisbane and the Gold Coast, Australia’s third and sixth largest cities, helping to meet growing travel demand and enhance connectivity ahead of the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Key Infrastructure Upgrades

As the Project Independent Certifier, Jacobs and AJJV will oversee compliance and quality during the design and construction phase. Major works will include:

  • Doubling rail tracks from two to four along a 20 km (12.4-mile) corridor
  • Removing five level crossings to improve safety and ease congestion
  • Upgrading stations with modern facilities
  • Enhancing walking and cycling connections for better accessibility
  • Support for high-frequency rail services across the region

Leadership Statements

Keith Lawson, Executive Vice President, Jacobs:
“Being selected for this project reflects the trust placed in our capability to deliver complex, high-impact infrastructure. This rail network will be more connected, resilient, and future-ready for South East Queensland.”

Michael Downing, Arcadis Business Leader – Project & Program Management:
“This landmark project demonstrates our commitment to innovation and sustainability. As we prepare for the 2032 Games, this rail upgrade is a vital investment in Queensland’s future.”
