Jacobs Water and Wastewater Operations Goderich Update

Goderich, Ontario — Jacobs has been selected by the Town of Goderich to operate and maintain its 3.17 million-gallon-per-day (12,000-cubic meter) water system and 2.17 million-gallon-per-day (9,050-cubic meter) wastewater system under a new five-year contract. Often described as “the prettiest town in Canada,” Goderich entrusts Jacobs with the management of its critical infrastructure, emphasizing reliability, sustainability, and innovation.

“At Jacobs, we’re committed to investing in and maintaining critical infrastructure so communities have a healthy environment to call home,” said Kevin Dahl, Vice President of Operations. “Our integrated services, digital solutions, and dedicated teams will ensure a seamless transition while meeting provincial regulations.”

Goderich Mayor Trevor Bazinet welcomed Jacobs’ appointment, stating, “Jacobs brings deep experience operating hundreds of facilities worldwide. Their digital capabilities, including the Digital OneWater approach and Intelligent O&M tools, will help optimize performance, reduce energy and chemical use, and support our frontline operators. This partnership aligns with our commitment to resilient, compliant, and sustainable services for residents and businesses.”

Innovation-Driven Continuous Improvement

As part of the contract, Jacobs will host annual innovation workshops with operations and maintenance experts, utility personnel, and local staff. The workshops will review past achievements, identify new ideas, and establish best practices to enhance efficiency, infrastructure resilience, and value for the town.

Jacobs has already highlighted potential opportunities, including deploying its Dragonfly digital tool to assess the town’s collection system and optimizing power usage and biosolids management. The company also plans to support Goderich’s goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 50% over the next decade, exploring sustainability improvements and potential solar power generation.

Local Leadership with Regional Support

The project will be led by Cory Dulong, a Goderich resident with over 20 years of experience in water and wastewater operations, supported by a skilled team of local and regional experts. Goderich joins a growing network of Jacobs-operated facilities across Ontario, providing access to specialized trades, engineers, and mechanics to meet the town’s evolving service needs.

“With an average contract relationship of over 20 years in Ontario, Jacobs continues to deliver expert-driven solutions that enhance public safety, protect the environment, and foster innovation,” added Kevin Dahl. “We’re not only maintaining infrastructure but also bringing new ideas and resources to Goderich and neighboring communities.”

This five-year contract reinforces Jacobs’ position as a trusted partner in water and wastewater operations in Goderich and across Canada.
