Kips Bay Decorator Show House Returns to New York for Its 50th Anniversary at Greenwich Village Townhouse

The celebrated Kips Bay Decorator Show House has returned to New York for its 50th anniversary, taking over a six-story Greenwich Village townhouse at 20 West 12th Street. The landmark event, established in 1973 to benefit the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club, has evolved into one of the most anticipated showcases on the international design calendar — now marking half a century of style, innovation, and philanthropy.

For the first time, the Show House moves downtown, embracing the character and charm of Greenwich Village. The 13-foot ceilings, seven wood-burning fireplaces, and an original Otis elevator provide the perfect stage for 21 top designers and architects to reinterpret New York sophistication through a bold, modern lens.

Working on an accelerated eight-week timeline, the designers transformed the residence into a living anthology of contemporary interior trends. Highlights include Corey Damen Jenkins’ whimsical “Through the Looking-Glass” dining room, Andrea Schumacher’s Nigerian-inspired lounge, and Tamara Feldman’s Paradiso Encontrado bathroom, layered with striking green marble and sculptural forms. British designer Ben Pentreath adds an elegantly traditional note with a richly hued drawing room that channels an English sensibility within a Manhattan setting.

Kohler returns as the official kitchen and bath sponsor, showcasing its newest technologies and design innovations across twelve rooms — from digital showers to sculptural sinks. Emerging trends from this year’s house include layered marbles, architectural shelving, sculptural lighting, and the rise of digitally equipped “Zoom rooms.”

Among the standout designers are Corey Damen Jenkins, whose fearless use of color and texture has redefined American luxury; and Pavarini Design Inc., led by Charles Pavarini III and J. Randall Tarasuk, whose theatrical flair and technical precision bring grandeur to every project.

“The Kips Bay Decorator Show House remains a benchmark for design excellence — a space where philanthropy, innovation, and artistry converge,” said a spokesperson for the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club. “As we celebrate 50 years, the event continues to inspire the next generation of designers and dreamers.”

The 2025 Kips Bay Decorator Show House New York runs through October 19, with tickets starting at $50. Later this year, the celebration continues as the Dallas edition opens on November 7 at Turtle Creek Boulevard.
