Komatsu Ltd. (President and CEO: Takuya Imayoshi) will showcase its vision for Africa at the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9), scheduled from August 20–22, 2025, at the Pacifico Yokohama Exhibition Hall. Under the theme “Creating value together through Innovation to empower Africa’s Sustainable Future”, Komatsu will highlight initiatives in human resource development, advanced technologies, infrastructure support, and corporate social responsibility.
A major announcement will be Komatsu’s plan to establish a new training center in Côte d’Ivoire, set to begin operations in 2026. Initially serving as a hub for training construction equipment operators and mechanics from customers, distributors, and local communities, the center will provide hands-on learning through advanced simulators developed by the Komatsu Group. Over time, the facility will expand into a core West Africa hub, adding equipment stock, parts depot, and marketing functions.
Exhibition highlights include the display of Komatsu’s next-generation hydraulic excavator “PC200i-12”, equipped with cutting-edge 3D construction technology. Compact simulators for hydraulic excavators and bulldozers will also be demonstrated on-site, allowing visitors to experience immersive VR-based training for safe and efficient operations.
Komatsu, which began operations in Africa in the 1960s, continues to expand its presence to meet the continent’s infrastructure and mining demands. The company operates 22 training centers across 15 countries, including facilities in South Africa, Dubai, and Japan. With Africa’s growing need for skilled workers, Komatsu aims to leverage its global expertise in training and human resource development to support sustainable growth while strengthening its long-term foothold in the region.
