Mammoet, the global engineered heavy lifting and transport company, has taken delivery of the first-ever Liebherr LTM 1150-5.4E mobile crane, marking a major milestone in the transition toward low-emission heavy lifting. While Liebherr continues advanced prototype testing in Ehingen, the crane has now been formally delivered to Mammoet for real-world operational testing.
This is Liebherr’s first mobile crane equipped with a full battery-electric drive, and series production is expected to begin in spring 2026.
Mammoet’s decision aligns with its strategy of expanding its electric fleet and reducing emissions across complex construction and infrastructure projects. The company previously integrated the LTC 1050-3.1E in 2023 and reported strong performance. The new 150-tonne LTM model adds a larger battery pack, offering enhanced flexibility for all-electric operations.
According to data analyzed by Mammoet, the LTM 1150-5.4E can operate in full electric mode for nine out of ten working days, based on recent field usage patterns in the Netherlands. This supports both Mammoet’s internal CO₂-reduction commitments and its clients’ sustainability goals.
Mammoet continues to lead in electrified heavy lifting with investments in electric SPMTs, electric skidding systems, and electrically powered SK ring cranes. The addition of Liebherr’s new model further accelerates this transition.
Liebherr designed the electric LTM 1150-5.4E to deliver emission-free, low-noise crane movements using its integrated battery, capable of running up to four hours without external power. Even when connected to low-capacity site power, the crane achieves full performance thanks to the battery acting as a buffer.
The LTM 1150-5.4E represents a significant advancement for clients seeking sustainable but high-capacity lifting solutions.
