OUTSCALE Launches ‘Carbon Footprint’ Tool to Track Cloud Emissions

OUTSCALE, a brand of Dassault Systèmes, has introduced a new service called Carbon Footprint, which helps organizations measure and manage the environmental impact of their cloud usage. This feature is now available in OUTSCALE’s Cockpit platform and public API, providing a secure and fully sovereign environment for IT and CSR teams.

With the rapid growth of cloud computing, businesses are looking for ways to track and reduce the carbon emissions linked to their digital infrastructure. A recent IDC 2025 study conducted with OUTSCALE found that cloud data centers produce up to 5.1 times less CO₂ than traditional on-premises systems and are 1.9 times more energy efficient. This insight comes at a crucial time as data center energy usage is expected to rise significantly by 2028.

A Practical Tool for Environmental Management

The Carbon Footprint feature gives users detailed insights by account, service, and emission source. It analyzes carbon impact across:

  • Electricity
  • Hardware
  • Maintenance
  • Hosting
  • Networking

The tool converts this data into actionable insights, helping organizations improve their sustainability strategies. The method will also evolve to include more services, regions, and reference systems while ensuring long-term reliability.

Integrated into the SecNumCloud 3.2-certified OUTSCALE Cloud, Carbon Footprint offers a clear and practical way for:

  • Executives – to handle governance and regulatory needs
  • IT and CSR Teams – to visualize emissions and manage data easily
  • End Users – to understand and reduce the carbon impact of their cloud usage

Starting November 5, this service is available to all OUTSCALE customers, strengthening the company’s position as a leader in sovereign and eco-friendly cloud technology.

Official Statement

“Carbon Footprint provides organizations with understandable data to manage their environmental impact,” said Olivia Guiomar, CSR Manager at OUTSCALE. “Our goal is to combine sovereignty, security, and sustainability to support responsible digital technology.”
