Port of Everett Launches Smart Tech Pilot with Jacobs and IGO Solutions to Optimize Port Equipment

The Port of Everett, in partnership with Jacobs and IGO Solutions Group, has launched the Data Analytics for Port Equipment (DAPE) Pilot Project – a pioneering real-time analytics platform designed to optimize cargo handling equipment, improve sustainability, and set a new standard for smart port technology.

The scalable, cloud-based DAPE platform integrates Portable Emissions Measurement Systems (PEMS) and telematics devices to monitor equipment performance, emissions, and utilization in real time. Data is presented through an intuitive, customizable dashboard, empowering port operators to make data-driven decisions that improve safety, reduce turnaround times, and extend asset life—all without requiring new infrastructure.

Key Features of the DAPE Platform

  • Real-time data acquisition: Continuous monitoring of equipment efficiency, emissions, fuel consumption, and health status.
  • Operational KPI integration: Dashboard tracks idling, utilization, fuel use, and maintenance needs.
  • Enhanced operational visibility: Actionable insights to optimize asset use and long-term modernization.
  • Scalability and resiliency: Applicable across general cargo, multipurpose, and container ports worldwide.
  • Supplier-agnostic architecture: Seamlessly integrates with any equipment fleet and transferable to other industries.

“Through this collaboration, Jacobs and its partners developed a real-time port equipment data analytics platform seamlessly integrated with operational KPIs,” said Aldo Ferrufino, Vice President and Director Ports & Maritime – U.S. West, Jacobs. “This marks a significant step forward in enhancing visibility, efficiency, and resiliency in port operations.”

“At the Port of Everett, we’re always looking for innovative ways to gain efficiencies, plan for the future, and enhance sustainability,” added Lisa Lefeber, CEO, Port of Everett. “This smart technology pilot gives ports a new tool for real-time insights that can support both immediate operations and long-term planning.”

Driving Smart Port Innovation

The DAPE Pilot Project not only advances the Port of Everett’s modernization strategy but also provides a replicable model for ports of all sizes. By embracing digital transformation, the port strengthens its role in the global shift toward smarter, more resilient, and more sustainable port operations.
