San Jacinto, California — Global construction and development firm Skanska has been awarded a $107 million contract by the Riverside County Transportation Commission (RCTC) to deliver the Mid County Parkway Ramona Expressway Project in San Jacinto, California.
The bid-build project will widen approximately eight miles of the eastbound Ramona Expressway, which is currently limited to one lane in each direction. Once completed, the improvements are expected to significantly enhance traffic safety, reduce congestion, and improve access to employment, education, and transportation options throughout the San Jacinto region.
“Skanska is a proud partner of the Riverside County Transportation Commission, and the Mid County Parkway Ramona Expressway Project is another critical investment in regional connectivity,” said James Bailey, Executive Vice President of Skanska USA Civil’s West Coast operations. “Safety is a major focus of this project, particularly along a corridor with a history of severe collisions.”
Key elements of the project scope include construction of a 2,127-foot-long, 58-foot-wide cast-in-place box girder bridge over the San Jacinto River, along with a raised median to improve traffic separation and reduce collision risks. Additional works include a wildlife crossing and the preservation of 177 acres of land for habitat mitigation, supporting environmental sustainability alongside infrastructure development.
Construction is scheduled to begin in February 2026, with project completion anticipated by June 2028. Upon completion, the upgraded corridor is expected to provide a safer, more reliable route for thousands of daily commuters while supporting long-term economic growth in the region.
