Skanska has secured a new contract worth EUR 50 million (approximately SEK 540 million) to deliver the second phase of a major hospital development in Turku, Finland. The agreement was signed with the Wellbeing Services County of Southwest Finland and will be recorded in Skanska’s Nordic order bookings for the first quarter of 2026.
The second phase of the project includes the construction of two new hospital wings, rising to six and nine floors, with a combined gross floor area of around 24,000 square meters. In addition to the new structures, Skanska will build connecting links between the new wings and the existing hospital completed during the first phase, as well as carry out internal modifications at key connection points within the current hospital complex.
The expansion forms part of the broader development of the Turku University Hospital Main Hospital area and will primarily support psychiatric care services, strengthening healthcare capacity in the region. Skanska previously delivered the first phase of the hospital project in 2024, demonstrating continuity and familiarity with the site and operational requirements.
Construction of the second phase is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2026, with completion expected in 2028. The project reinforces Skanska’s strong position in delivering complex healthcare infrastructure across the Nordic region.
