Stantec Wins New Contracts to Support Resilient Seaport Development in Southern California

Stantec, a global leader in sustainable design and engineering, has secured several major contracts with key seaports across Southern California, strengthening its role in the development of resilient and future-ready port infrastructure.

California is home to 11 major commercial ports that together handle about 38 percent of all US containerized imports and 28 percent of exports. Investment in port modernization is critical to maintaining economic growth, addressing climate risks, and improving operational efficiency.

As part of its recent wins, Stantec will work with three of Southern California’s most influential ports.

At the Port of San Diego, Stantec will provide on-call environmental review, master planning, and urban design services. The work will support projects on tidelands, submerged lands, and uplands surrounding San Diego Bay, helping advance the Port’s long-term vision for a sustainable, accessible, and economically vibrant 34-mile waterfront.

For the Port of Long Beach, Stantec has been selected under an on-call agreement to deliver CEQA and NEPA quality assurance and quality control services. These efforts will help the Port modernize its infrastructure while maintaining strong environmental compliance and community engagement.

Stantec has also secured two on-call contracts with the Port of Los Angeles. The first focuses on environmental review documentation and technical studies to support CEQA and NEPA compliance at one of the busiest seaports in the United States. The second contract covers engineering and architectural services for the Port’s Capital and Maintenance Improvement Programs, aimed at improving sustainability, efficiency, and climate resilience.

Southern California’s ports play a vital role in global trade while also serving as economic engines for local communities. Stantec’s growing presence in the region reflects increased investment in infrastructure that responds to climate impacts, supply chain demands, and community-centered development goals.

With more than six decades of global experience in port and marine terminal planning, permitting, and design, Stantec combines international expertise with strong local partnerships to deliver infrastructure solutions that are both economically viable and environmentally responsible.

These new contracts further reinforce Stantec’s commitment to supporting resilient seaport development in Southern California and advancing sustainable port infrastructure for the future.
