Take-Off for Renovation: Saint-Gobain Modernizes Tulcea Airport in Romania

Tulcea Danube Delta Airport, a key gateway to one of Romania’s most popular tourist regions, has undergone a major modernization with the expertise of Saint-Gobain. The renovation project aimed to expand capacity while improving passenger comfort, operational efficiency, and sustainability.

The airport’s passenger terminal now features a new Aquaroc® curtain façade with COOL-LITE® SKN 176 II glazing, processed at Saint-Gobain Prime Glass. This design floods the interior with natural light while ensuring strong solar protection and thermal insulation.

Externally, Isover PROFI FASSADE and THERMO ISOVER systems, reinforced with glass wool, boost thermal efficiency. Inside, RigiPROFIL partitions with Rigips plasterboard and Isover Akusto glass wool significantly enhance acoustic comfort. More than 3,000 m² of Casoprano Rigips and Ecophon acoustic ceiling systems further improve sound absorption and visual appeal.

Sustainability was central to the project. Materials were delivered on reconditioned pallets, and on-site technical training helped minimize waste and environmental impact.

The Tulcea renovation showcases how modern airport infrastructure can combine passenger experience, energy efficiency, and responsible construction practices.
