Thiess Group has been awarded major mining and infrastructure contracts by Larvotto Resources for the Hillgrove Antimony-Gold Project in New South Wales, Australia, strengthening its role in the critical minerals sector.
The scope of work includes approximately 20 kilometres of underground development over four years, delivering a full-service mine development solution. This will cover decline and lateral development, rehabilitation works, ground support installation, and haulage activities across the Metz, Garibaldi, and Clarks Gully underground zones. In addition, Thiess has secured an engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) contract for the mine’s processing plant, encompassing design, engineering, refurbishment, and plant upgrades.
Thiess Group Executive Chair and CEO Michael Wright said the contracts highlight the company’s expanding capabilities in supporting critical minerals essential to the global clean energy transition. He noted that the work will help position Hillgrove as a reliable producer of both gold and antimony.
The contracts support Larvotto Resources’ development timeline, with Hillgrove expected to enter production in 2026 as Australia’s next major antimony supplier. Located near Armidale in New South Wales, the historic Hillgrove mine is being redeveloped with a focus on efficient, sustainable, and long-term production. Once operational, the project has the potential to supply around 7% of global antimony demand alongside its gold output.
