◼ Creating a 1.8 km channel for France’s leading port
◼ Providing a direct link between Port 2000 and the Seine river basin to boost river traffic
◼ A €183 million contract
HAROPA PORT, France’s largest port, has awarded a €183 million contract to a VINCI Construction (62%) and DEME (38%) consortium to construct La Chatière, a river link to Port 2000 in Le Havre.
The project involves building a 1,800-metre river channel protected by an embankment. Expected to open in 2027, the new route will improve river transport efficiency, reduce carbon emissions, and enhance supply chain safety.
Project Execution
- A preliminary phase will involve clearing unexploded ordnances.
- Several VINCI Construction subsidiaries will contribute, including:
- Océlian (maritime works)
- Navarra TS & Cardem Pyro (soil remediation)
This project reinforces VINCI Construction’s expertise in port infrastructure, complementing recent works at La Cotinière, Brest, Porto-Vecchio, and Port-la-Nouvelle.
