Yaskawa Expands Robotics Manufacturing in Wisconsin

Yaskawa America has announced a major expansion of its robotics manufacturing operations with the development of a new state-of-the-art facility at its campus in Franklin, Wisconsin. This move marks a key milestone, as high-volume industrial robots will be manufactured in the United States for the first time by Yaskawa.

The Wisconsin facility will produce industrial robots for customers across the Americas, with some units also shipping to Yaskawa Motoman’s integration facility in Miamisburg, Ohio. The expansion reflects Yaskawa’s focus on localized production, aimed at strengthening supply chains, reducing lead times, and improving customer flexibility.

Beyond robotics manufacturing, the Franklin campus will consolidate multiple Yaskawa Drives and Motion operations. Over the next three to eight years, the site is planned to grow to more than 800,000 square feet, supporting advanced manufacturing, packaging, and training. Once completed, it will serve as the North American headquarters for Yaskawa’s Drives and Motion Division, along with operations for robot production, motion control products, AC drives, and solar inverters.

The Motoman Robotics Division will continue operations in Miamisburg, Ohio, ensuring continued system integration and customer support.

Mike Knapek, CEO of Yaskawa America, said the consolidation of facilities into the Franklin campus will support long-term growth and drive continued innovation, reinforcing the company’s commitment to quality and world-class manufacturing.

The expansion aligns with Yaskawa Electric Corporation’s 110-year legacy of global innovation and strengthens the company’s U.S. manufacturing footprint. The investment further supports Yaskawa’s mission to deliver advanced automation solutions, including industrial and collaborative robots, motion control systems, and integrated robotic cells, while meeting growing demand across North and South America.
