Yuen Long South Residential Project Northern Metropolis Overview

Arcadis has participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for the first phase of a major residential development in Yuen Long South, Hong Kong, a flagship project under the government’s Northern Metropolis initiative. The project is being jointly developed by New World Development and China Resources Land (Overseas) and represents a key step in advancing housing supply and urban growth in the region.

Arcadis has been appointed as the Quantity Surveying consultant for the development, providing comprehensive pre- and post-contract quantity surveying services. Representatives from Arcadis attended the ceremony, reaffirming the firm’s long-term commitment to supporting Hong Kong’s urban development ambitions.

Located at the heart of the planned Northern Metropolis—Hong Kong’s future growth engine and an integral part of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area—the development will span a total gross floor area of approximately 720,000 square feet and be delivered in phases. The first site, following completion of land-premium payment, will deliver around 700 residential units, with sales targeted for fiscal year 2027. Once fully completed, the two planned projects are expected to provide approximately 1,800 new homes.

Winnie Wong, Project Director, said the development will deliver much-needed quality housing while setting new standards for sustainable urban living. She emphasized that the project supports Hong Kong’s role as a leading city within the Greater Bay Area and contributes meaningfully to the Northern Metropolis vision.

William Fong, Head of Cost & Commercial Management, HKMA at Arcadis, noted that the company is honored to support such a significant project. He highlighted that Arcadis’ combination of global expertise and local insight will help ensure best-in-class cost and commercial management, contributing to the project’s overall success and sustainability.

The Yuen Long South residential development aligns with the government’s broader objectives for the Northern Metropolis, which aims to drive regional integration, economic growth, and sustainable urbanization. Arcadis’ involvement further strengthens the delivery team for a project that will play a pivotal role in shaping Hong Kong’s future urban landscape.
