Liebherr-Australia Commissions New Fleet at Super Pit for Northern Star Resources Ltd.

Liebherr-Australia has commissioned five PR 776 dozers for Northern Star Resources Ltd, marking the first of 13 new Liebherr machines to be delivered throughout 2025. These machines will operate at the Super Pit, one of Australia’s largest gold mines, located in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia.

  • The initial commissioning includes five PR 776 dozers, with a total of 13 new machines planned.
  • Additional equipment includes two more PR 776 dozers, five R 9150 excavators, and one R 9400 excavator.
  • The majority of these machines will work at the Super Pit and Thunderbox Operations near Leonora, 300 km from Kalgoorlie.
  • This will bring Northern Star Resources’ Liebherr fleet to a total of 17 machines, having already received four R 9400 excavators since 2022.

  • Liebherr-Australia has expanded its footprint in Western Australia to support its growing fleet, with a Kalgoorlie branch opened in 2022.
  • The Perth facility was also expanded from 34,000 m² to 81,000 m² in 2022, including workshops, a new office, and a 5,000 m² parts warehouse.
  • By 2030, Liebherr plans to double its operations and workforce in Perth to support the increasing demand for mining equipment.
