Dublin, Ireland – June 2025 – In a significant milestone for urban construction in Ireland, Liebherr, through its official distributor Armorum Ltd., has delivered its first 440 HC-L luffing jib crane to John Paul Construction. The crane is now operational at the Donore Project, a transformative residential development in Dublin, and marks the beginning of a new era in lifting technology for the Irish market.
Designed for Dense Urban Projects
As the latest addition to Liebherr’s family of luffing jib cranes, the 440 HC-L is engineered for performance and adaptability in congested city environments. Key specifications include:
- Maximum lifting capacity: 24 tonnes
- Reach: up to 65 metres, lifting 3.9 tonnes at full radius
- Footprint: compact design ideal for tight job sites
- Technologies: EMS-4, Load-Plus, Micromove, electric wind release
The crane also features the TC-OS interface with a modern 12-inch display, Litronic precision control system, and a new counter-jib design for faster setup and safer operation.
Supporting the Donore Housing Initiative
The Donore Project, a flagship collaboration between Dublin City Council and the Land Development Agency (LDA), is revitalizing the former St. Teresa’s Gardens site with:
- 542 affordable housing units (389 cost-rental, 153 social housing)
- New public spaces and infrastructure for community use
- A sustainable model for urban regeneration in Ireland’s capital
A total of six Liebherr tower cranes are supporting this development, with the 440 HC-L playing a lead role in navigating site complexity, tight lifting angles, and dense structural layouts.
Long-Term Partnership with John Paul Construction
This delivery strengthens Liebherr’s 50-year partnership with John Paul Construction, one of Ireland’s top contractors known for delivering high-profile residential, commercial, and public infrastructure projects. The contractor’s trust in Liebherr reflects a long-standing alignment in quality, innovation, and service.
“Choosing the 440 HC-L was a natural step for us. It delivers the kind of performance, reliability, and efficiency we need on a project like Donore,” said a spokesperson for John Paul Construction.
A Milestone for Ireland’s Construction Industry
This delivery represents the first 440 HC-L in Ireland, setting a new benchmark for high-capacity lifting in urban environments. With its compact design and advanced operator support systems, the crane enables precise and efficient movement of heavy materials without compromising site logistics or safety.
As Dublin grows upward and outward, equipment like the 440 HC-L is shaping the future skyline—safely, sustainably, and smartly.
