Manitowoc opens additional UK service facility to expand crane sales and aftermarket growth

Manitowoc has opened a second UK facility to offer more localized support to customers in the north of the country. The new workshop in Barnsley will provide parts and service support to customers throughout northern England, Wales, and Scotland. The Company’s large facility in Buckingham will now concentrate on aftermarket operations for central and southern UK regions. The Barnsley depot will both meet the needs of local mobile crane customers with parts and service support, and handle inquiries related to Potain tower crane rental or service requests.

“We’re continuing to expand our support in the UK, so it makes sense to invest in this new facility to bring us closer to customers and other crane rental companies in the area. Over the past two years, we’ve hired highly skilled technicians to continue delivering the best support in the UK. Manitowoc is growing its aftermarket support worldwide, and this ongoing expansion will give customers more opportunities to maximize the value of their Grove and Potain cranes,” said Pier Domenico Ravera, General Manager for Manitowoc in the UK and Vice President for mobile crane sales in Western Europe.

In addition to offering parts, maintenance, and service, the Barnsley depot will act as a local hub for used crane inquiries. Manitowoc has one of the most extensive used crane networks in the world and is a great option for customers looking to refresh or expand their fleet. The 2,750 m2 Barnsley facility, complete with a workshop building and yard, will serve as a full-time base for a team of highly-skilled service technicians.

The Barnsley depot is a hands-on facility, 100% focused on local customers. Full administrative support will be provided by the UK head office in Buckingham, which will also offer supplementary services not available in Barnsley – for example EnCORE refurbishment of crane parts and crane rebuilds.

“Our investment in Barnsley is easily scalable, so we can increase resources as required. We’re fully committed to providing the best aftermarket care to customers and look forward to sharing in their ongoing success,” said Pier Domenico Ravera.
