Arcadis Philippines, Inc. Cebu Office Advances Sustainable Spaces through LEED Gold Certification

Arcadis, the leading global design and consultancy firm for natural and built assets, is proud to announce that the Arcadis Philippines, Inc. (API) office in Cebu has received a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) v4 Gold Certification in the Interior Design and Construction (ID+C) category. Awarded by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), this milestone is historic as the first LEED Gold-certified office fit-out project in Cebu City and the entire Visayas region under the LEED ID+C category, setting a benchmark for sustainable workspaces in the city.

Covering 240 square meters (2,580 square feet), the API Cebu office reflects a future-forward design that promotes activity-based working, engagement, and collaboration. The office incorporates sustainability-focused elements aligned with Arcadis’ goals to create a vibrant, inspiring workplace. The Sustainability Solutions team at Arcadis Philippines spearheaded the certification process, reflecting its 16+ years of expertise in green building certifications and commitment to improving the quality of life through sustainable operations.

“At Arcadis, we lead by example in our commitment to sustainability, not just through the solutions we deliver but in the spaces where we work. The LEED Gold certification of our Cebu office, alongside our Makati office’s recognition, highlights our dedication to high-performance, environmentally responsible environments that inspire innovation, empower teams, and foster a sustainable future,” said Katherine Ann Resurreccion, Service Line Director, Sustainability Solutions at Arcadis Philippines.

“We are thrilled to achieve another significant milestone in our sustainability journey. This LEED Gold certification for our Cebu office is a testament to our commitment to creating sustainable and inspiring workspaces. We will remain dedicated to minimizing our environmental impact and fostering positive impacts on communities,” added Darneil Perez, Country Head at Arcadis Philippines.

Located on the 9th floor of the LEED Gold-certified JEG Tower, the API Cebu office incorporates several sustainable features, including water efficiency with low-flow pantry faucets and sanitary fixtures that reduced indoor water use by 36.85%, energy savings with a modeled energy cost saving of 23.2% achieved through daylight sensors, low-wattage LED fixtures, occupancy sensors, and energy-efficient equipment, commissioning processes for mechanical and electrical systems to align design with actual operations, improved indoor air quality through carbon dioxide monitoring, air purifying, and effective cleaning strategies in compliance with ASHRAE Standard 62.1-2010, and access to quality views with 79% of regularly occupied areas having access to natural light and outdoor views. The building also promotes sustainable transportation with bicycle parking and shower facilities.

Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is a globally recognized green building rating system by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), recognizing best-in-class strategies for sustainable, efficient, and cost-effective buildings.

This achievement follows the WELL Health-Safety Rating re-certification of both API offices earlier this year and the LEED Gold Certification of the Makati office in 2021. These recognitions demonstrate Arcadis’ continuous efforts to create sustainable, inclusive, and productive spaces for its people and clients.
