10 Billion Meta Data Center Campus in Indiana Opens

Lebanon, Indiana — February 2026Turner Construction Company has been selected by Meta Platforms as one of the contractors for a landmark $10 billion Meta data center campus in Indiana, marking a major expansion of the tech giant’s U.S. digital infrastructure footprint.

Ground has officially broken on the project in Lebanon, signalling the start of construction on what is set to become one of the largest data center investments in the state’s history.

A Gigawatt-Scale Digital Hub

The Lebanon campus will span approximately four million square feet and deliver 1 gigawatt (GW) of capacity. The facility will support Meta’s core platforms while scaling infrastructure for artificial intelligence and high-performance computing workloads.

As AI adoption accelerates globally, gigawatt-scale campuses are increasingly critical to meeting rising compute demand. The Indiana development reflects Meta’s long-term strategy to expand advanced digital infrastructure capable of supporting next-generation technologies.

Economic Impact for Indiana

At peak construction, the project is expected to support more than 4,000 construction jobs, creating a substantial short-term economic boost. Once operational, the campus will provide approximately 300 permanent jobs, contributing to sustained economic growth in Boone County and across the state.

Local leaders have described the development as one of the most significant infrastructure investments in Indiana’s history, reinforcing the state’s emergence as a strategic hub for technology and innovation.

Sustainability and Energy Commitments

Meta confirmed it will pay the full cost of the energy used by the data center to ensure no negative financial impact on local residents.

In alignment with its sustainability goals, 100% of the facility’s electricity consumption will be matched with clean and renewable energy sources. The campus is being designed to achieve LEED Gold certification, a widely recognized benchmark for sustainable building standards.

The facility will also implement a water-efficient, closed-loop liquid cooling system, which recirculates water to reduce overall consumption — a critical consideration as data centers scale to support AI-driven workloads.

Industry Perspective

“The scale of the Lebanon Data Center reflects the growing demand for high-performance infrastructure,” said Ben Kaplan, Managing Director at Turner Construction Company. “We look forward to working alongside Meta and applying our integrated services and deep mission-critical experience to deliver this data center safely, sustainably, and efficiently while supporting the long-term growth of the Lebanon community.”

Strategic Significance

Once complete, the $10 billion Meta data center campus in Indiana will stand as a cornerstone of the company’s expanding U.S. infrastructure network. It underscores both the rapid growth of AI-driven computing requirements and Indiana’s increasing role in hosting mission-critical technology assets.

With construction underway, the Lebanon campus is poised to become a key node in the nation’s evolving digital ecosystem.
