Madrid, Spain – ACCIONA has been awarded the ISO 20400 Sustainable Procurement certification by AENOR, recognising the company’s best practices in responsible supply chain management and its commitment to integrating sustainability across procurement processes.
The ACCIONA ISO 20400 sustainable procurement certification acknowledges the company’s efforts to align procurement operations with its Sustainability Master Plan, which focuses on strengthening environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance across its global supply chain.
Recognition of responsible supply chain practices
The certification highlights the company’s Supplier and Contractor Relationship Management (SCRM) model, which ensures compliance and transparency across supplier operations. It also recognises the role of ACCIONA’s Sustainable Procurement Guide, designed to integrate ESG criteria into supplier selection and procurement decisions.
The certificate was presented by Nicolás Henríquez, Director of Business Development at AENOR, to Fernando Hinojosa, Director of Strategic Procurement at ACCIONA, and José Luis Blasco, the company’s Global Director of Sustainability, during a ceremony held at ACCIONA’s headquarters in Madrid.
Sustainability performance recognised by global ratings
ACCIONA’s procurement practices have also received recognition from leading sustainability assessments. The company ranks in the 96th percentile within the Energy Utility category of the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment.
In addition, the company’s Construction division has been awarded a Platinum medal by EcoVadis, one of the highest ratings granted for corporate sustainability performance.
Managing a large and growing supplier network
The new certification reflects the scale and complexity of ACCIONA’s global supply chain. The company currently works with around 66,000 suppliers registered on its Procur-e procurement and tendering platform, while approximately 10,000 new suppliers join the system each year.
In 2025, ACCIONA significantly expanded its sustainable procurement activities, with purchases classified as sustainable increasing 277% year-on-year, reaching a total value of €489 million.
Strengthening sustainable procurement in global infrastructure
By obtaining the ACCIONA ISO 20400 sustainable procurement certification, the company reinforces its strategy to promote responsible sourcing and strengthen sustainability standards across infrastructure, energy and construction projects worldwide.
The certification further positions ACCIONA as a leader in sustainable supply chain management, reflecting the growing importance of ESG integration in procurement practices across global industries.
