Skanska Kungsbacka Arena construction project

Skanska has signed an agreement with Kungsbacka Municipality to proceed with phase two of the Kungsbacka Arena project, a major multi-arena development valued at approximately SEK 550 million. The contract will be recorded in Skanska’s Sweden order intake for the fourth quarter of 2025.

Skanska and Kungsbacka Municipality began collaborating on the project at the end of 2023, with the first phase focused on preparatory studies to define construction methods and establish cost estimates. Phase two will now advance the project into detailed design, preparatory works and construction, with a planned start in spring 2026.

The new Kungsbacka Arena is designed as a multi-purpose facility for sports, culture and large-scale events. The indoor arena will accommodate at least 2,500 seated spectators, with capacity increasing to up to 5,500 people for major events. In addition, the project includes an outdoor football pitch with permanent stands for 1,000 spectators, expandable to 3,000 seats in the future.

With a total area of approximately 14,600 square metres, the arena will play a key role in meeting the municipality’s growing demand for sports and event facilities. It will complement existing nearby infrastructure focused on sports, theatre and education, strengthening the area as a regional hub for community activities.

The project is targeting Miljöbyggnad Silver certification, reflecting Skanska’s commitment to sustainable construction practices and energy-efficient design.

Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2026, with completion planned before the end of 2028, delivering a modern, flexible and sustainable venue for Kungsbacka’s residents and visitors.
