ATB Financial Downtown Flagship at Suncor Energy Centre

ATB Financial has announced plans to establish a new downtown flagship location at Suncor Energy Centre, reinforcing its long-term commitment to the revitalization of Downtown Calgary. The move, announced by Brookfield Properties and ARCI Investments in partnership with ATB, will see the Alberta-based financial institution occupy 173,000 square feet within the redeveloped office campus, including a Plus 15–connected retail branch.

ATB will be among the anchor tenants at Suncor Energy Centre once its $90 million mixed-use redevelopment is completed in 2027. The relocation will consolidate several existing ATB locations into a single, centralized downtown hub, generating positive net absorption for Calgary’s office market.

“Our decision to establish a single, prominent corporate presence in Suncor Energy Centre demonstrates ATB’s long-term commitment to downtown Calgary,” said Krista Lauridsen, Vice President and Head of Real Estate, Facilities, Design & Construction at ATB Financial. “This strategic investment aligns us with the city’s future growth and positions our brand for maximum visibility in the evolving professional core.”

Brookfield Properties and ARCI are transforming the Suncor Energy Centre campus into a community-oriented destination, featuring a performing arts amphitheatre, licensed food hall, flagship restaurant, outdoor dining terrace, and a mix of public and tenant-exclusive amenities. These include a hospitality-style lounge, modern fitness centre, conference facilities, end-of-trip amenities, and a micromobility hub.

“ATB’s dedication to Calgary and the revitalization of its downtown core aligns perfectly with our vision,” said Michael Rix, Vice President, Western Canada, Brookfield Properties. “Their presence underscores the appeal of Suncor Energy Centre as a premier workplace destination.”

The Suncor Energy Centre comprises 1.7 million square feet of office space across two landmark towers, offering direct access to Calgary’s transit network and the Plus 15 pedestrian system. The project continues a legacy that began in the 1980s when ARCI Investments partnered with Petro-Canada to develop the iconic twin towers.

With ATB’s commitment, the redevelopment of Suncor Energy Centre marks another milestone in Downtown Calgary’s transformation into a vibrant, mixed-use urban core.
