Eiffage Construction Delivers Eco-Responsible El Hogar Aquatic Center in Anglet

Eiffage Construction has completed and inaugurated the El Hogar Aquatic Center, a new benchmark for eco-responsible and innovative public facilities in Anglet (64). The project, completed in just over a year, demonstrates Eiffage’s ability to combine modern design, user comfort, and environmental excellence.

A major technical challenge of the operation was ensuring the continuity of public service: construction of the new facility proceeded while the old pool remained in operation, requiring careful planning and execution.

The new aquatic center features a 25-meter, 6-lane sports pool, a 180 m² learning pool, and a 40 m² paddling pool. Outdoor facilities include a 25-meter Nordic pool and a solarium, catering to swimmers of all ages and levels.

Sustainability was at the heart of the design. Energy consumption has been reduced by 30% compared to the old pool, with nearly 70% of needs covered by renewable sources including a wood pellet boiler, air/water heat pump, and photovoltaic panels. Water consumption has also been cut by 25%, supported by rainwater recovery systems.

The project adopted a responsible construction approach, incorporating bio-based materials, wooden cladding, and an innovative concrete with recycled oyster shells, developed with ISA BTP and the seedinnov innovation fund.

The El Hogar Aquatic Center was inaugurated on August 29, 2025, in the presence of champion swimmer Camille Lacourt, with the first public swims beginning on September 1, 2025.

This emblematic project represents a new standard in sustainable infrastructure and reflects Eiffage Construction’s commitment to environmental innovation and community well-being.
