Holzbau Bögerl Invests in First Mobile Crane to Meet Growing Demands in Timber Construction

Breitenbrunn, Upper Palatinate – Holzbau Bögerl GmbH has taken a significant step forward in its construction capabilities by purchasing the company’s first mobile crane in its history – the compact and powerful Liebherr LTC 1050-3.1. The investment marks a shift for the family-run business as it adapts to the increasing requirements of modern timber construction.

In recent years, Holzbau Bögerl’s projects have moved beyond traditional roof trusses to focus on large-format wall, ceiling, and roof elements, often delivered prefabricated with insulation, windows, or interior fittings. These advanced construction methods require greater lifting capacity, higher reach, and precision in often tight spaces – limitations that the company’s lorry-mounted loading crane could no longer meet.

“Our lorry-mounted crane had reached its limits. A compact mobile crane was the logical next step for us,” said company owner Richard Bögerl.

A Compact and Efficient Solution

The Liebherr LTC 1050-3.1 was selected for its versatility and efficiency on modern job sites. “We were impressed by the well-thought-out overall concept,” explained Thomas Bögerl. “Its short chassis and minimal turning radius make it ideal for confined sites, while its all-wheel drive and large tyres ensure reliable performance off-road. The ability to drive with ballast and set up in just 15 to 20 minutes saves us valuable time.”

The crane also offers technical advantages that impressed the family team. With an overall height low enough to access halls with just three meters of clearance, it supports lifting heights up to 48 meters with the folding jib. Liebherr’s VarioBase® support system adds flexibility and safety on restricted sites, while remote control enables high-precision operations – even including travel under load.

“This makes it ideal for complex and space-intensive construction projects,” added Markus Bögerl.

Broad Range of Applications

Going forward, the new mobile crane will be deployed across a wide range of projects, from roof trusses and façade installations to detached houses and major public developments such as schools and nurseries.

Commenting on the investment, Richard Bögerl emphasized the importance of choosing Liebherr as a partner: “Liebherr stands for quality, innovation, and decades of experience in mobile crane construction. Beyond the technical capabilities, their reliable service and strong customer focus gave us the confidence that this was the right decision. With Liebherr, we have a partner we can trust completely.”
