KION Battery Systems Delivers First Integrated Battery for Linde 1251 Xi Truck

KION Battery Systems (KBS) has officially handed over the first integrated battery designed for the new Linde MH 1251 Xi premium truck. Unlike conventional designs based on lead battery trough dimensions, the new solution represents a fully integrated battery concept, setting new standards for efficiency, performance, and ergonomics.

The battery was jointly developed by KION Battery Systems and the KION CTO organization, incorporating significant innovations in software, system architecture, mechanics, and integration. The new truck and battery system were first presented to dealers at a launch event in November, generating strong enthusiasm.

A New Battery Concept

At the heart of the project lies a modular system architecture, forming the foundation for multiple future KBS battery solutions. The design is easy to maintain and offers eight variants to meet diverse customer requirements. An innovative module mounting concept improves service life, while lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cell technology ensures durability and extended cycle life.

Additionally, the use of common electronic components across different projects reduces complexity and increases cost efficiency.

Key Advantages of the Integrated Battery

The new battery provides multiple benefits:

  • High flexibility: energy content can be adapted depending on the number of modules installed.
  • Compact, space-saving design: optimized integration into the truck frees up more room for the driver.
  • Long service life: robust system architecture and LFP technology extend operational longevity.
  • High energy density: delivering maximum performance while maintaining efficiency.
  • Cost-effectiveness: modular design and component sharing enhance scalability and affordability.

Customer and Driver Benefits

The combination of innovative design and seamless vehicle integration results in significant ergonomic improvements for drivers, as well as higher performance and cost advantages for customers.

This milestone highlights KION’s strategy to advance electrification and modular battery technologies for the intralogistics industry, paving the way for more efficient and sustainable material handling solutions.
