LA NOUVELLE Plant Aims for Low Carbon Construction

Cette nouvelle usine s’inscrit dans l’objectif de Saint-Gobain d’accélérer la transition de l’ensemble du secteur vers une construction bas carbone, en Finlande et à l’international.

La nouvelle usine de traitement des scories de Saint-Gobain à Raahe utilise les scories issues de la production d’acier de SSAB comme liant dans les matériaux de construction à base de ciment. Les scories issues du processus de production d’acier sont traitées dans la nouvelle usine, où les scories et les métaux en sont séparés. L’usine traite environ 70 000 tonnes de scories par an, dont les deux tiers sont recyclés sous forme de métal et réintégrés dans la matière première de production de SSAB. Le reste est transformé en liants alternatifs pouvant remplacer les ciments spéciaux, notamment dans les produits secs de la marque Weber de Saint-Gobain.

Le traitement des scories permet de remplacer jusqu’à 70 % du ciment dans les nouvelles chapes Enaé, qui seront bientôt lancées en Finlande et en Suède. Cette nouvelle solution réduit les émissions de CO₂ d’environ 30 à 50 % sur l’ensemble du cycle de vie des produits.
