Rostock, Germany / South Korea – February 18, 2026 – Liebherr has secured a major offshore wind contract for the delivery of one BOS 45000 heavy-lift offshore crane to Eunsung O&C Co., Ltd.. The crane will be installed on the jack-up barge VEGA, which is scheduled to enter service in 2029 and operate across Asian offshore wind markets.
The agreement marks a significant milestone in expanding lifting capacity for next-generation offshore wind turbine installation and lifecycle maintenance in South Korea and the broader Asian region.
Engineered for Offshore Wind Installation at Scale
The BOS 45000 heavy-lift offshore crane is purpose-built for demanding offshore campaigns, offering:
- Lifting capacity: Up to 1,200 tonnes
- Maximum reach: 22 metres at full capacity
- Maximum boom length: 117 metres
Designed for large-component installation, maintenance operations, and life-extension projects, the crane will equip VEGA to handle increasingly complex offshore wind turbine installations.
With offshore turbines growing in size and weight, high-capacity lifting solutions such as the BOS 45000 are becoming critical to project efficiency and safety.
Strategic Investment by Eunsung O&C
Founded in 1989, Eunsung O&C is recognized for its expertise in ground improvement, foundation engineering, and complex infrastructure projects across onshore and offshore environments.
“At Eunsung O&C, we take pride in delivering solutions that precisely meet our clients’ needs at sea,” said Hee-Sung Eun, President of Eunsung O&C. “Building on our experience from major international projects, we look forward to working with Liebherr to integrate the BOS 45000 on VEGA with the highest standards of safety, quality and reliability.”
The company’s track record in foundation and marine works positions it to deploy the BOS 45000 effectively within the fast-growing offshore wind sector in Asia.
Proven Offshore Crane Technology
The BOS series has been a cornerstone of offshore lifting since its introduction in 1975. Over 500 units have been deployed globally in some of the world’s most demanding marine environments.
Each crane in the BOS family features:
- A robust A-frame architecture
- Lattice boom design for extended outreach
- Wide, secure walkways for safe personnel access
- Optimized service routing for maintenance efficiency
- Fast auxiliary hoists for routine lifting operations
Armin Seidel, Area Sales Manager at Liebherr Rostock, emphasized the continuity of proven engineering:
“This crane concept has consistently proven its reliability and technical strength in offshore operations. The new BOS 45000 continues this direction and shows how proven engineering can support the next generation of offshore wind projects.”
Integration on VEGA: Timeline and Scope
The crane construction phase for the VEGA project will run from summer 2026 through 2028. Installation and integration on the jack-up platform are scheduled for completion by mid-2029, followed by commissioning and entry into service later that year.
Liebherr South Korea will oversee installation, commissioning, and testing (ICT), as well as provide ongoing service support backed by Liebherr’s global network.
Eddie Park, Divisional Manager at Liebherr South Korea, stated:
“Our focus in South Korea will be to ensure a smooth ICT process and to provide comprehensive lifecycle support. We appreciate the confidence Eunsung places in Liebherr and look forward to supporting the BOS 45000 throughout its operational life.”
Established Partnership and Service Capability
Liebherr and Eunsung O&C have previously collaborated on modernization projects. Most recently, a Liebherr Transform project in Suncheon extended the boom of an Eunsung BOS 14000 crane by 24 metres, reaching a total length of 84 metres. The upgrade was completed ahead of schedule by an international service team.
Liebherr supports customers through a global service network spanning more than 50 subsidiaries, offering:
- On-site inspections
- Tailored maintenance programs
- Operator and technical training
- Remote diagnostics and lifecycle support
This infrastructure ensures high equipment availability and long-term productivity for maritime operators.
Strengthening Asia’s Offshore Wind Future
As offshore wind capacity expands across Asia, heavy-lift solutions like the BOS 45000 heavy-lift offshore crane are essential to meet installation demands for larger turbines and deeper-water projects.
The VEGA deployment represents not only a significant investment for Eunsung O&C but also a broader signal of South Korea’s growing role in offshore renewable energy development.
With delivery scheduled for 2029, the BOS 45000 is set to become a cornerstone asset in Asia’s offshore wind build-out.
