STOCKHOLM / GJERDRUM — Skanska has signed a contract with Gjerdrum municipality to construct the Oppvekstjordet education and sports complex in Gjerdrum, Norway.
The contract is valued at NOK 661 million (approximately SEK 600 million) and will be included in Skanska’s Nordic order bookings for the first quarter of 2026.
Comprehensive Education and Community Hub
The Oppvekstjordet project will replace the existing school and kindergarten while preparing the area for future expansion. The development includes:
- A new kindergarten
- A primary school
- A sports hall
- Football pitches
- Additional community facilities
The integrated campus is designed to serve as both an educational center and a community gathering space, strengthening local infrastructure in Gjerdrum.
Strong Sustainability Targets
The new buildings are designed to achieve BREEAM-NOR “Very Good” certification, reflecting high environmental performance standards.
Energy efficiency is central to the project. The facilities aim to reduce the municipality’s overall energy consumption for education and sports buildings by 40 percent. This target will be supported by technical solutions derived from Skanska’s Powerhouse projects, which focus on low-energy and climate-positive construction models.

Construction will commence immediately, with completion scheduled for 2028.
The project reinforces Skanska’s position in sustainable public-sector construction across the Nordic region, while contributing to Gjerdrum’s long-term infrastructure and climate goals.
