Agility announce announced that the Agility Logistics Park in Tema, Ghana has achieved EDGE Advanced certification for its energy-efficient warehouse facilities.
The achievement makes the Ghana facility the 17th EDGE Advanced-certified warehouse site in Agility’s global logistics park network.
Agility Logistics Park Ghana Achieves EDGE Advanced Certification
The Agility park in Tema received certification under the EDGE green building standard. The program is managed by the International Finance Corporation.
EDGE Advanced certification requires buildings to cut energy use, water consumption, and embodied carbon by at least 40% compared with standard local buildings.
Agility confirmed that all five warehouses at the Ghana facility achieved EDGE Advanced status.
Sustainable Warehousing Expands in Africa
The 160,000-square-meter logistics park is located in the Tema Free Zone near Tema Port and close to Accra.
The facility provides warehouse space for multinational firms and local businesses. It supports storage, distribution, e-commerce, packaging, processing, and light manufacturing operations.
According to Agility, the warehouses deliver average energy savings of 68%. They also reduce water use by 38% and lower embodied carbon in materials by 63%.
The certification reflects a wider shift toward sustainable industrial infrastructure across Africa. Logistics developers increasingly focus on energy efficiency and ESG standards to attract global tenants and investors.
Green Logistics Infrastructure Gains Importance
Charles Gassoub said the certification supports Agility’s long-term sustainability strategy. He added that customers benefit from lower utility costs and improved operational efficiency.
Nathalie Kouassi Akon said the project highlights growing demand for green industrial buildings in Ghana. She also noted the importance of private-sector investment in sustainable infrastructure.
Agility Expands African Logistics Network
Agility continues developing logistics parks across Africa. The company operates or develops facilities in several markets:
- Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire – 470,000 SQM
- Maputo, Mozambique – 320,000 SQM
- Lagos, Nigeria – 270,000 SQM under development
- Cairo, Egypt – 270,000 SQM
