Liebherr Environmental Award Recognizes Innovation

Liebherr USA, Co. mobile and crawler cranes received the Liebherr environmental award from the Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association (SC&RA) during the organization’s Annual Conference held on Amelia Island in April 2026.

The award recognizes companies that show a strong commitment to environmental protection and sustainable industry practices.

Liebherr Environmental Award Recognizes Sustainability Efforts

The SC&RA Environmental Award honors companies that support sustainability through equipment innovation, environmental programs, and operational improvements.

SC&RA includes more than 1,350 member companies across 46 countries. Each year, the organization recognizes achievements in the crane, rigging, and specialized transportation sectors.

Simon Schuster, Divisional Director of mobile and crawler cranes at Liebherr USA, accepted the award on behalf of the company.

According to Schuster, the recognition highlights teamwork between Liebherr’s crane factory in Germany and its U.S. operations while supporting long-term sustainability goals.

Liebherr Expands Low-Emission Crane Technology

Liebherr continues to invest in low-emission and alternative-drive crane technologies.

The company develops several solutions designed to reduce CO2 emissions and lower noise levels on construction projects.

These solutions include:

As a result, contractors can operate cranes with fewer emissions, even in areas without direct grid power access.

In addition, Liebherr follows a technology-neutral strategy to support different project requirements and jobsite conditions.

Liebherr Supports Renewable Energy Projects

Liebherr mobile and crawler cranes also play an important role in the U.S. wind energy sector.

The cranes support wind turbine installation projects and help expand renewable energy infrastructure across the country.

Therefore, the company’s equipment contributes not only to construction operations but also to broader clean energy development goals.

At the same time, Liebherr continues to strengthen circular economy practices through its Reman program.

The program remanufactures used components to same-as-new quality standards. This process helps conserve raw materials and reduce waste while providing cost-effective equipment solutions.

Safety and Sustainability Remain Key Priorities

Liebherr integrates safety technologies across its crane portfolio alongside its sustainability initiatives.

The company’s mobile and crawler cranes include:

  • Rear-area camera systems
  • Blind-spot detection
  • Collision warning systems

These features improve safety for operators and jobsite teams while supporting more efficient crane operations.

Moreover, the company continues to focus on balancing environmental performance, equipment reliability, and operational safety across construction and infrastructure projects.

Outlook

The Liebherr environmental award reflects growing industry focus on sustainable construction equipment and lower-emission technologies.

As contractors and infrastructure developers continue to prioritize environmental performance, manufacturers are increasing investments in electric mobility, renewable energy support, and circular economy initiatives within the heavy equipment sector.
