Bouygues Construction has entered into a strategic partnership with Innodura, a Lyon-based robotics and artificial intelligence specialist, to accelerate the development and deployment of robotic solutions across construction sites.
Founded thirteen years ago, Innodura specialises in robotics, computer vision, and AI, developing advanced systems that allow robotic arms equipped with 3D cameras to perceive their surroundings and adapt movements in real time. By combining 3D perception technologies with AI algorithms, the company designs the “brain” that enables robots to operate autonomously in complex environments.
Bouygues Construction and Innodura have already collaborated for more than four years on multiple automation programmes aimed at testing practical robotics applications in construction. These initiatives have focused on performing complex tasks, operating in constrained or hazardous environments, meeting evolving safety standards, and supporting workers by automating the most physically demanding or repetitive activities. Solutions tested include an inspection robot capable of working in confined spaces such as tunnels and nuclear facilities, as well as on standard construction sites, and a drilling robot designed to install thermal insulation, supporting the acceleration of large-scale energy-efficiency renovation projects.
The partnership goes beyond technological innovation, with a clear emphasis on reducing physical strain on site workers, improving operational efficiency, and enhancing the attractiveness of construction careers through the adoption of modern, practical tools.
Under the new agreement, Bouygues Construction and Innodura will establish a multidisciplinary team fully dedicated to the development of construction robotics. In addition, a dedicated construction laboratory will be created at Innodura, directly connected to the Scale One research and innovation platform, enabling robotic solutions to be designed, tested, and refined under real-world conditions.
Jean-Philippe Trin, Deputy CEO of Bouygues Construction, said the partnership represents a key step in the group’s strategy of useful innovation, enabling smarter robotisation of construction sites to improve performance, safety, and workforce appeal. Maxime Robin, CEO of Innodura, added that the collaboration marks a milestone for French innovation and will act as a strong catalyst for the rapid development, testing, and deployment of intelligent construction robots.
