HOCHTIEF has been selected to support Amentum in the global deployment of Rolls-Royce small modular reactors (SMRs), marking a major milestone in the company’s strategy to expand its leadership in the nuclear sector and contribute to the global energy transition.
Under a newly announced Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), HOCHTIEF will work alongside Rolls-Royce SMR’s Program Delivery Partner, Amentum, to provide construction management services for SMR projects in the United Kingdom and the European Union. The first deployments are planned for the UK and the Czech Republic.
The agreement positions Amentum and HOCHTIEF at the forefront of next-generation nuclear power delivery, leveraging HOCHTIEF’s expertise in modular construction and major project execution to ensure build certainty, cost efficiency, schedule reliability, and consistently high-quality outcomes.
HOCHTIEF brings more than 70 years of nuclear experience, with continuous involvement in nuclear projects since the 1950s. Globally, the company has contributed to nuclear power plants with a combined output of approximately 37 gigawatts.
ACS Group and HOCHTIEF Chief Executive Officer Juan Santamaría described the collaboration as a defining moment for the company. “The Rolls-Royce SMR program is a landmark for the global energy transition and a defining moment for HOCHTIEF,” he said. “Our decades-long nuclear expertise, combined with leadership in modular construction and complex project delivery, positions us to accelerate SMR deployment worldwide while creating local jobs and long-term community benefits.”
The HOCHTIEF Rolls-Royce SMR program also strengthens the company’s ambition to become a leading engineering, procurement, and construction management provider for nuclear projects. The initiative aligns with HOCHTIEF’s adjacent growth sectors, including data centers, defense infrastructure, and critical minerals, supporting the delivery of secure, low-carbon energy for future generations.
A Trusted Partner in Nuclear Energy
The ACS and HOCHTIEF Group has played a significant role in Europe’s nuclear infrastructure, including involvement in three of Spain’s seven nuclear power plants and 13 of Germany’s 20 nuclear facilities. Key nuclear projects include the Sellafield site in the UK, the Temelín Nuclear Power Plant in the Czech Republic, the Konrad II nuclear waste repository in Germany, and Finland’s Olkiluoto 3 nuclear power plant.
With this latest selection, HOCHTIEF reinforces its position as a trusted partner in delivering advanced nuclear solutions and supporting the transition to reliable, low-carbon energy systems.
