Max Bögl Group Orders 25 Liebherr Earthmoving Machines for Major Energy Infrastructure Projects

Max Bögl Group Strengthens Fleet with 25 Liebherr Earthmoving Machines

The Max Bögl Group has expanded its equipment fleet with 25 new Liebherr earthmoving machines as part of its role in constructing sections of Germany’s major energy transition projects — Suedlink and SuedOstLink. The machines, supplied through Liebherr’s long-standing dealer Beutlhauser Group, are being deployed primarily for earthworks and conduit installation on these critical power transmission routes.

Advanced Equipment for the Energy Transition

The order includes 16 crawler excavators, five A 924 wheeled excavators, and four XPower wheel loaders. The new machines — including the Liebherr R 930, R 934, and R 926 Compact — deliver high fuel efficiency, reliability, and performance, key factors in Max Bögl’s decision to invest in Liebherr technology.

In total, 21 of the 25 new machines will operate directly on Suedlink and SuedOstLink construction sites, which are part of Germany’s strategy to expand high-voltage direct current (HVDC) networks for renewable energy distribution.

“We rely on Liebherr’s proven quality and efficiency, along with Beutlhauser’s outstanding service support,” said Stefan Bögl, CEO of the Max Bögl Group. “These machines provide the performance and reliability we need for such large-scale infrastructure projects.”

Generation 8 Crawler Excavators: Higher Efficiency and Power

The Liebherr Generation 8 crawler excavators — including the R 930 and R 934 — feature enhanced engine power, optimized boom forces, and reduced fuel consumption. Built with robust X-shaped undercarriages and equipped with automatic central lubrication, these machines are designed for stability, longevity, and compliance with EU Stage V emissions standards.

The R 926 Compact model combines the strength of a standard excavator with a compact design, making it ideal for confined urban work zones. Its versatility allows for quick adaptation across earthmoving, civil engineering, and demolition tasks.

Liebherr A 924 Wheeled Excavator: Performance and Flexibility

The A 924 wheeled excavator is engineered for demanding earthmoving work, such as trenching and conduit installation on infrastructure projects. Weighing between 21,500 and 26,500 kg and powered by a 140 kW (190 hp) engine, the A 924 delivers impressive digging force and a bucket capacity of up to 1.65 m³. Its short tail swing radius enhances maneuverability on constrained job sites, while low fuel consumption ensures economic operation.

XPower Wheel Loaders: Productivity Meets Efficiency

For quarry and extraction operations, Max Bögl selected Liebherr’s L 575 XPower and L 585 XPower wheel loaders. These machines feature Liebherr’s power-split travel drive, combining hydrostatic and mechanical systems for optimal efficiency under varying loads.

The XPower series offers high torque, rapid bucket filling, and reduced fuel use, ensuring maximum productivity with minimal environmental impact. Their ergonomic cabs and panoramic visibility enhance operator comfort and safety.

A Trusted Partnership: Liebherr, Beutlhauser, and Max Bögl

The delivery of the 25 machines marks another milestone in the enduring partnership between Liebherr, Beutlhauser, and the Max Bögl Group. Representatives from all three companies attended the official handover ceremony, underscoring their shared commitment to quality, innovation, and sustainability.

Symbolically, two Liebherr R 930 crawler excavators were handed over to Stefan Bögl, CEO of Max Bögl, and Richard Honig, General Manager of Max Bögl Transport & Geräte GmbH & Co. KG, by Rudolf Arnold, Managing Director of Sales at Liebherr-Hydraulikbagger GmbH, and Dr. Thomas Burgstaller, Managing Director of Beutlhauser Group.

“This collaboration represents trust built over decades and a shared focus on performance, efficiency, and customer satisfaction,” said Rudolf Arnold, Liebherr-Hydraulikbagger GmbH.

About the Project

The Suedlink and SuedOstLink projects are key elements of Germany’s Energiewende (energy transition), enabling the transmission of renewable energy from the north to the industrial south. With Liebherr’s advanced technology and Beutlhauser’s service network, Max Bögl continues to play a crucial role in shaping the country’s sustainable infrastructure future.
