Manitowoc Opens New Facility in Australia to Expand Crane Service, Support, and Training

In a strategic move to strengthen its presence in the Asia-Pacific region, Manitowoc has inaugurated a new 20,000 m² office and workshop facility located just outside Sydney. This major expansion more than doubles the size of its previous premises and underlines the company’s commitment to delivering enhanced customer support and aftersales services in Australia.

Boosting Service, Parts, and Training Capabilities

The new site is designed to meet the increasing demand for Manitowoc cranes and services across the region. The significantly larger facility incorporates:

  • Expanded parts inventory for faster availability and reduced lead times
  • Dedicated workshop space for advanced service and repairs
  • EnCORE™ crane refurbishment services
  • A modern training center for hands-on operator and technician instruction
  • New sales offices to better serve regional clients
  • Large hardstand yard space for equipment storage, staging, and testing

Designed for Growth and Long-Term Impact

“Our new facility will allow us to better serve customers by improving service and repair capabilities, increasing parts availability, and offering more efficient training and testing spaces,” said John Stewart, General Manager of Manitowoc Australia.

The facility isn’t just a current upgrade—it’s a foundation for future growth. By the end of 2025, Manitowoc expects to expand its workforce, adding team members in service, parts support, and training operations.

“This expansion is critical to supporting our growth targets in the aftersales side of the business,” said Paul Churchill, Director of Aftersales. “We are positioning ourselves to meet growing market demands with more products and better service offerings, making it easier for our customers to maintain and repair their cranes efficiently.”

Strategic Investment in Regional Support

This expansion is a key element of Manitowoc’s long-term strategy to support new and used equipment owners throughout Australia and the broader region. With an increased focus on aftersales excellence, Manitowoc is reinforcing its reputation as a reliable partner in crane performance, lifecycle support, and operator training.

The investment reflects a broader industry trend: as infrastructure and construction activity grow across Australia and Southeast Asia, equipment reliability, uptime, and local support are more vital than ever.
