AECOM Aviation Architecture Director Appointed

AECOM has appointed Dennis Austin as its new Aviation Architecture Director. The appointment strengthens the company’s aviation architecture capability and supports its growing portfolio of major airport projects across the UK and Europe.

Dennis brings more than 30 years of aviation industry experience. Throughout his career, he has worked on major airport developments across Europe, Asia, and North America. His expertise includes terminal design, aviation infrastructure, and multidisciplinary project delivery.

Extensive Experience in Global Airport Projects

Dennis is widely recognized for his work on Heathrow Airport. He contributed to both Heathrow Terminal 5 and the Heathrow Expansion Programme. During the Terminal 5 project, he helped develop the terminal concept and its innovative roof construction system. As a result, the project became one of Europe’s most complex and successful airport developments.

In addition, Dennis has worked on several internationally recognized airport projects, including:

  • Singapore Changi Terminal 5
  • Geneva Airport East Pier
  • Charles de Gaulle Terminal 2F
  • Shanghai Pudong Airport

Supporting AECOM’s Aviation Growth

Jose Monfa, Transportation Sector Design Lead for UK & Ireland at AECOM, said Dennis brings extensive experience in complex airport programmes and integrated design. Furthermore, he noted that Dennis will strengthen AECOM’s ability to support clients from early planning through final project delivery.

Moreover, he emphasized his commitment to designing airports that improve operational efficiency while delivering exceptional passenger experiences and supporting community needs.

Strengthening Future Aviation Infrastructure

Dennis is a New York-registered architect. He previously served as an Associate Partner at Richard Rogers Partnership (now RSHP) and also held a senior position with Aéroports de Paris. Throughout his career, he has delivered aviation projects across Europe, North America, and Asia.

As the aviation sector continues to invest in modernization and decarbonization, AECOM’s latest appointment reinforces its commitment to delivering innovative, sustainable, and high-quality airport infrastructure across the UK and Europe.
