Liebherr LTM 1250-5.1 Mobile Crane Joins Fleet

Prillaman’s Crane & Rigging Expands Fleet With Liebherr LTM 1250-5.1 Mobile Crane

Prillaman’s Crane & Rigging, Inc. has expanded its fleet with the delivery of a Liebherr LTM 1250-5.1 mobile crane, marking its 11th Liebherr crane acquisition.

The Virginia-based company purchased the crane at CONEXPO 2026 and received it at Liebherr’s Newport News headquarters.

The handover also celebrated three generations of the Prillaman family business and its longstanding relationship with Liebherr.

Prillaman’s Crane & Rigging Strengthens Lifting Capabilities

Prillaman’s Crane & Rigging has provided crane rental, storage and heavy-haul services for approximately 20 years.

The company operates across Virginia, North Carolina and Maryland, serving customers in several industries.

Its projects include work at government facilities, military bases, shipyards and marinas.

As a result, the company requires lifting equipment that can handle demanding applications while maintaining high safety standards.

The addition of the Liebherr LTM 1250-5.1 will strengthen its capacity to support complex lifting operations.

Beau Pocock, Mid-Atlantic Sales Manager at Liebherr USA, congratulated the company on its latest acquisition.

He said the new crane is well suited to Prillaman’s operations and highlighted the company’s continued growth.

Liebherr LTM 1250-5.1 Delivers 300 US Ton Lifting Capacity

The Liebherr LTM 1250-5.1 mobile crane is a five-axle all-terrain crane designed for demanding lifting applications.

It offers a maximum lifting capacity of 300 US tons (250 metric tonnes).

The crane also features Liebherr’s LICCON2 control system, which supports precise and efficient crane operations.

Its design aims to maximise lifting performance within the weight limitations of a five-axle mobile crane.

Consequently, the LTM 1250-5.1 is among Liebherr’s most powerful five-axle mobile cranes.

VarioBallast Improves Flexibility on Restricted Sites

One of the crane’s key features is Liebherr VarioBallast technology.

The system allows operators to adjust the ballast radius according to lifting requirements and available working space.

A larger ballast radius supports higher lifting capacities. Meanwhile, a smaller radius helps the crane operate on restricted construction sites.

The system also enables ballast adjustments within seconds, improving operational flexibility.

In addition, the LTM 1250-5.1 offers several jib configurations to support different lifting applications.

These include a multifunctional folding jib, a long lowering fixed jib and a rigid jib.

Advanced Technology Supports Safety and Efficiency

The crane includes several Liebherr technologies designed to improve safety and operational performance.

VarioBase supports flexible outrigger positioning and helps operators work safely in challenging site conditions.

Meanwhile, ECOmode and ECOdrive technologies help improve operating efficiency.

Together with the LICCON2 control system, these features support precise lifting and efficient crane operation.

Furthermore, the combination of high lifting capacity and flexible setup options makes the crane suitable for varied construction and industrial projects.

Liebherr and Prillaman Celebrate Long-Term Partnership

The delivery represents another milestone in the relationship between Liebherr and Prillaman’s Crane & Rigging.

With 11 Liebherr cranes acquired, the family-owned company continues to invest in equipment that supports its regional operations.

The latest acquisition also reflects the business’s development across three generations.

By adding the Liebherr LTM 1250-5.1 mobile crane, Prillaman’s Crane & Rigging aims to strengthen its lifting capabilities and continue serving customers across the Mid-Atlantic region.
